Read enough of our destination guides and a pattern shows up: nearly every one mentions confirming a local SIM or roaming plan before you land. It's a real, recurring need — and yet there's no eSIM link on our Away Mode checklist today. Here's honestly why, rather than pretending it's not a gap.
We applied to an eSIM affiliate program early on. It came back a soft decline — not a rejection of the idea, just a "not the right moment yet," with an explicit invitation to reapply once our audience and content had grown. We took that at face value rather than treating it as a dead end.
We've since applied directly to a different eSIM provider's own affiliate program and are waiting to hear back. Same rule as every other partner on this site: we don't add a link until an application is actually approved and there's a real, working tracking URL in hand — a guessed or placeholder link would silently break commission tracking, which is worse than just not having the partner yet.
It would be easy to just not mention eSIMs until we have a partner to show. We'd rather be upfront that this is a known, real gap we're actively working on, consistent with how we handle every other pending application — see how we decide whether a partner makes the list for the fuller version of this same discipline.
